Alan Greenspan , The Age of Turbulence a biography speaks to his extraordinary life. As an economist he became chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank starting  in 1987-2006. During the turbulent years in our economy , following 911 he steered the economy  back to health. America avoided an economic melt down under his leadership. In 1987 just weeks after taking office the stock market crashed .This was his first major crisis as a Federal Reserve Bank Chairman for him; but under his guidance nothing happened. He was able to have the system absorb the changes and bounced right back.
