Truman’s  biography by David MC Cullough credits the  President with navigating the country and the world out of the second world war. Truman succeeded  President Roosevelt as president in 1945, and became a war time president. Following the war he used the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe and established NATO to help keep the peace.
